I decided to add the folded, dried leaf (it fit) and a few seeds. In progress.

Sheila, I swear I could pick those petals up right off the paper.
-
And I love the additions

Thanks, Pam. I’m glad you think the leaf and seeds work so far. They were such a different color and texture than the fresh flower parts!

This tree has a few blooms after blooming in the winter here. By the time I get home with one flower, it’s about done. But, the leaves have dried in an interesting way and I like the seeds, too. The seed pods twist and pop open. I’m thinking of adding a dried leaf and a few seeds.

Oh my. Really beautiful! The leaves, the petals, everything. I’m loving all of the Kraft paper posts. I think it’s finally time to place an order.

This is so delicate and lovely.

Hi Maureen – This is a very beautiful poppy portrait and it has a very painterly quality to it. Great job!

Hi Pam,
I will look forward to seeing the delicate precision of your drawings on Kraft paper. It sure would be fun to do an in person workshop with you one day, I feel I could learn much from your technique. -
Hi Maureen, thank you for your kind words. Your drawings are gorgeous. And yes! – if you are driving this way please let’s draw together. And when it is possible again we are going to plan a workshop here in Vancouver.

I am pleased with this overall, but I need more work with the reflective highlight. Also need more practice with the water-soluble colored pencils—outside edges aren’t crisp and gradients inside aren’t smooth. (I get hard edges when I lay down the watercolor pencils.)

This is beautiful Marjorie! The colors and saturation are very good and your outside edges look crisp to me. The highlight really conveys the sheen of the tomato. I would add some more dark toning on the right side to enhance its form. I agree with you that the reflected highlight is not there yet, but I also question that you need a reflective…[Read more]
