There were some adorable little mini seed pods on our milkweed yesterday, and I couldn’t resist putting them in. So I worked the rest of the composition around adding them in.

Incredible inspiration!

This is lovely!

Love the composition Pam! It is beautifully rendered and the leaves are masterful! Gorgeous greens!
-
I agree with Doug, everything about this drawing is exquisite! I also love the leaves and keep coming back to the beautiful center of color and textured details!

Thanks guys! I really want to do another version because the flower head get kind of gray and mushy, but I don’t think I can face it for a while and will draw some other things first 🙂

Thank you so much! The common name is “love in a mist” and this is the seed pod that followed spring blooms. I think they are fascinating. My model has dried out considerably and is now releasing black nigella seeds.

Hi Vern! I just saw your comment (had missed it for some reason until now), will take another look at the finished cherries and see what might need to be done.

I drew these blackberries a few months ago, wondering if there’s improvements you can suggest, perhaps deeper shading on the stems etc? I may add to the drawing and/or pick some blackberries this year and draw from life!

Thank you Pam!

Hi Amanda- the fruits and the leaf are so detailed and beautifully done. It really makes them stand out. The sepals at the tops of the berries don’t look finished in comparison. I would add a little more toning to the sepals and stems for definition. Beautiful job!

Hi Doug, Thank you so much, great suggestion!

Thanks everyone for your comments. My “reply” disappeared and now it’s back. I enjoyed those gills because I got to really play around with the different colors to depict the grooves. -

All of your work has its own mood! Your tomato looks so happy! I love it.

I really like your painting. What is the plant? The pod is beautifully framed by the foliage.

Those cracks look great. I like how you get a little peek into the flesh of the tomato through the lovely cracks.
I’m anxious to here what others have to say about the paper and the soft fibers coming up. I had this problem too when I used Stonehenge legion HP paper. I think I have too heavy of a hand for it.

Hi Elizabeth – I love nasturtium leaves and you have done a really nice job on these! Nice mix of green colors! I would use a little more toning on the leaf under the the open flower and add a little more definition to the opening flower on the right. Great job!
Thanks so much – sorry for late reply, I am new to this group.
