Hi Pam,
It was fun how this came together, I love the challenge of keeping edges sensitive. Spring is just starting here on the Canadian prairies so we still have tulips have yet to bloom, what region are you in? -

Beautiful. I love the little tube thingies in the centers. And I think the petals show up nicely already.

Not finished with this yet, but I need to walk away from it for a while bc it’s driving me crazy, and I’m not loving it. But it’s been an interesting study. It’s twigs from different Acer rubrum (red maple) trees. Red maples are dioecious: some trees only have male flowers and others only have female flowers. The twig on the bottom right is from…[Read more]

Hi Pam- seeing these in my yard I never would have thought to draw them and doing a great job with them. It is a great page and I hope you finish it!!!!! What about it is bothering you? You are doing a magnificent job capturing the details!

Thanks Doug! I added to it, and posted it above. It’s growing on me 🙂

Hi Rita- the stem is definitely looking better and I like how you positioned the bloom. Keep up the good work!

I took a look at the photo on mono/grey tones and got another bean (ate the previous weeks ago) and trying to shift the darks and highlights to emphasize the rounding of the bean inside.

This tree is in bloom all over Marbella. I’ve never been here at this time until now. The flowers have a sweet fragrance, similar to orange blossoms but lighter. The seeds were used in the past for prayer beads. Overall, the plant is considered poisonous, but I’ve seen medicinal uses, as well!? I’m soaking the seed to draw the inside. Didn’…[Read more]

Hi Sheila- looks great! I also think the petals look good now. Leaves usually have a dark side and a light side especially noticeable along the main vein. I think that is missing on some of the leaves and adding that may achieve what you are looking for. Stay safe!
-
Yes, I think that’s right. I’ll set it up again and see what I can do. Thanks!

I’m in Pennsylvania. We live in bucks county, but also have a cabin on the Pocono plateau where we have been since March to stay isolated. It snowed again today. I can’t wait for real spring. No tulips or daffodils here, yet either.

Hi Doug and Vern- Your input is so incredibly helpful- I think I have really improved the stem and I am working on an open flower in the background- I wish I had planned better and would have ideally liked some of the petals coming in front of the stem I have but too late now- anyway, for some reason without your encouragement I guess I was…[Read more]
