You’re right Pam – I hadn’t noticed that! It’s actually the seed pod from a spent flower, but I’ll try lightening it a bit so it is less prominent.

This is gorgeous, Ishbel. Great handling of the white. I love the variation of color in the different buds. Minor thing – that center peduncle is pretty stick straight. It’s such a graceful composition otherwise. And I think that because it’s both dead-center and stick straight, my eye keeps on flitting over to it. I wonder whether giving a slight…[Read more]

This is looking great, Patty. I think you have the highlight in a good spot. You could put a little more color toward that upper left edge, and fade it in toward that highlight just a bit. It’s looking really great. You can still go in and deepen the shadows that for the little ridges and bumps. Maybe put a wash of green on that right shadowy side?

@pgthompson Hi Pam I lightened the right side up a bit and deepened the color in around the spikes. . Not sure where to put the highlight? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you

Thanks Maureen. Yes, too many leaves. Next time I’ll do some strategic pruning 🤣

Still working on the milkweed pod but any suggestions would be most helpful. Included a photo of the set-up.

I think this is really lovely, definitely a big challenge to include so many leaves but I love the flow of them

This journalling is so inspiring, what kind of pen/pencil are you using for outline? Also wondering what kind of paper you’re using.

Excellent use of perspective, I need to learn how to do this. You should write a textbook, or have you already?
