I think your embossing looks very natural and subtle. The key is to mix embossing with other techniques and also to tone inside the embossed lines so it isn’t only one value inside the embossing. Either some watercolor painted inside in places or with a very sharp pencil go inside the veins to add some tones.

I was able to get some done. Still not completely finished, and I’m wondering if I should try again, but do the leaf in grays

Thanks, Pam. Very tricky, but fun to study the plant and admire how the light was touching threads (I didn’t capture that, but saw it!)

And you captured that light and airy feeling of the seeds.

I really like the seeds against the darker paper!

Cleaning my work table and found the pressed green needles. Next year, I’ll add the green seed cone before it opens.

Another first attempt, will be ready for the challenge again next year. It’s growing in our development. I was very surprised we could grow a redwood here in the mid Hudson Valley (NY)!

This was the first time I’ve attempted milkweed seeds and it was rough, but I’m inspired to keep trying. The brown kraft paper is really fun!

What a beautiful drawing Sheila! The colors are wonderful and it looks like you could just pick everything right up off the page. Great job!

Thanks Doug. I was definitely attracted to the colors of this watermelon radish. And, I did eat it in salad afterwards.

I have not attempted milkweed yet since it looks daunting. Nice work. The concave pod on the left is so convincing.
-
Thanks Susanalora, I will try again next year. The brown kraft paper really helps with mid tones.

My favourite end of season flower! Captures airiness of plant

Perhaps adding in some cut cross section or slices will fill out the composition! Plus the bonus is seeing the contrast of color in the inside of the potato!
