I am in Germany visiting my friend. She is an avid gardener and these are just two of many vegetables from her garden.

Beautiful Helene! I love the composition! The flowers are gorgeous, but I am also impressed with the leaves whose colors and texture are spot on!

Gorgeous, Helene. Beautiful toning.

Excellent use of perspective, I need to learn how to do this. You should write a textbook, or have you already?

Thank you all for your comments. Glenn, I am still a beginner and just trying new aspects of this wonderful art form! thank you again.

Hi Hayden- this is a pleasing grouping and it is well done! I would tweak a couple of areas. It seems like the highlight on the tan pear on the left is caused by light coming from a different direction than the other two pears. That highlight should shift over more to the left. The lower section of highlight on the red pear is good, but the pointy…[Read more]

My eye keeps going to the nasturtium flower and leaf and the 2 green leaves next to it. I don’t feel like that is the side that needs something. I think the large pale yellow flower at least needs a portion of it’s stem coming out of the bottom. It is the only main piece that is not grounded and it is throwing me.

Good job on the branch Becky. There is a good range of tones. There are a couple of things I would tweak. You could lighten either side of the highlight a little so there is more transition in your toning. The width of the actual branch looks pretty uniform from top to bottom, but on your drawing it is wider above the side branches than it is…[Read more]

@doug-milne thank you so much, our begonias are so inspiring every season. I overwinter the bulbs and am always delighted when they come into bloom.

@doug-milne Thanks for your ideas about the leaf, it really bothers me too and I like your possible solution so I will try it out.

Considering a few other additions, especially by the nasturtium. Thoughts?

My eye lands on the natsurtium leaf. I think it’s because it’s like a bullseye, and centered so perfectly within the negative space on the right. Maybe try having the flower overlap on top of it a bit?
-
Yes, worked on that a few days ago. I’ll upload the photo. Thanks!
