This is gorgeous Maureen! I love how the flower buds just glow! With so much incredible work of yours to pick from this is one of my favorites!
-
@doug-milne thank you so much, our begonias are so inspiring every season. I overwinter the bulbs and am always delighted when they come into bloom.
-
Beautiful negative space in the composition. Well done!

I think I may add more elements to each page.

These are drawings I’ve been doing, cutting out, arranging and then deciding to put in this accordion journal I had. An experiment!

Gorgeous Sheila!

Thanks, Doug. I’m debating between more elements or less.

I love this! Such a sweet accordion journal. Really good idea.

Thanks, Pam. Any suggestions? After the workshop, it looks kind of bare….😎

@doug-milne
Good idea, Doug. I’m not sure if there are any fresh specimens in the woods this time of year and my original specimen has long wilted so I may need to work from a photo. The challenge for me is how to keep all those flowers in the raceme from becoming just a tangle. -

Thanks Doug! I still want to work on the bright yellow flowers/buds but am pretty happy with the result. I didn’t know they are toxic but did notice they don’t smell particularly nice. I don’t know if they are considered invasive in the UK. I used to have a plant in my garden but it didn’t do very well so I removed it too!

Thank you for the information Glenn! It spurred me to look it up online. I was thinking a graphite drawing (in the background) of a stem would be a nice addition to your drawing to show the abundance of flowers that there are on one stem.

It is interesting to see the different views Renata! The center of the flower on the bottom right is particularly good! Nice job!

Nice drawing Renata! You really captured tansy’s features! I recently transplanted some of my long established tansy to a park I designed. I just read that it is very toxic and invasive so I removed it from the park’s bed and also my yard.

This is the flower of the common woodland orchid Tipularia discolor. Everyone has seen the single leaf of this orchid in spring on the forest floor but many may not recognize the flower because it doesn’t appear until late summer and is so tiny. By the time the raceme of flowers appear the leaf has vanished. This drawing is a 20x enlargement of a…[Read more]

Hi Maureen- the highlights in particular are wonderful! There is something about the position of the large leaf on the right that bothers me. Personally, I would add a piece of stem with a curl in it come out from the lower right edge of the leaf. I think that would help the composition.
@doug-milne Thanks for your ideas about the leaf, it really bothers me too and I like your possible solution so I will try it out.
