we found a showy orchis, a wild orchid growing in the wooded area near our friend’s home in Hendersonville North Carolina. It was so fun to draw

Thanks for the suggestions! Can’t wait to try them out. I didn’t know those center doodads were the flowers. So cool. They were still closed when I clipped this one, but I noticed that they are open now on some of the trees in our woods. I think I need to do a second drawing with the open flowers.

Just a few days after I started this course my Mother ended up in the hospital, in a short time Hospice Care and then she died in April. I’m so grateful to be back and actively in the course.

This is lovely I agree with Vern’s comments. FYI the white looking petals are really Brachts and the inside area is actually the flower! @vern -

Oh, thank you, Vern, for your comments. I was not sure if I am headed in the right direction with technique. To achieve the effect, I had to create many, many layers. At your recommendation, I will give the next part a try and see how it goes. Thank you so much for your help. (I loved this first lesson so I am eager to try the next one!) -

Vern, I’d love to come to the farm. I’ll have to see how things are going here…The top flower is an inside view of a pansy petal. This is one dramatic spring, so much blooming at one time. Overnight, trees seem to be leafing out! -
