Thank you Doug. I agree that the left one got away from me!!! I’ll try to make some adjustments.

Nice Becky! The image has nice movement to it. The flower on the left throws me a bit. The tube part of the flower should line up with the opening and in this case it does not. The flower on the right is good. I think you could pad the width of the tube along it’s right side to correct it. I would also try adding some toning on the left side of t…[Read more]

Amazing how you managed to include all those stamens and not make it blurry! Really beautiful, Hélène!

Gorgeous Helene! It has so much going for it! For starters, it is beautifully drawn. The colors are wonderful and I love the composition!

A species in the genus Hoya?

Hi Glen. This is Ohia lehua, a native tree of Hawaii. The bottom structure does look like a Hoya flower. They may be related. Thank you for your interest.

James, very nice drawing. I would add one thing to Doug’s suggestions. You could narrow up and tone down the veins on the leaves. This is a beautiful drawing, and a few tweeks will bring it to the next level.

Welcome to the ArtFeed Melissa! Nice work! Good color selection, toning and attention to detail. Be aware to be consistent with the range of tones along the length of the branch.

Beautifully drawn James! The colors and saturation are very nice. A couple of things to consider. I would lighten the left edge a little. It is too dark since that side is closest to the light source. That side is usually a 3-4 on the tone scale. I would also add more toning to the bottom right side to emphasize the onions form. Take a look at…[Read more]

Hi James- you really captured the whitish film that grapes can have. There is one grape with a strong highlight and there are more that grapes that don’t have the film and I would punch up the highlight. I would add more tone to the upper leaf on the right side. It seems like the grapes would be casting a stronger shadow on the leaf. The o…[Read more]

The branches are beautifully rendered James! Particularly the one on the left where you can easily see the range of tones, which gives the branch great form! Nice details too!

Hello @pgthompson @sam-mcwilliams This is a copper beech leaf from my tree. Copper beeches turn a variety of different colors but right now they are a purple blue color with some green. I am struggling with the colors and the light. I started drawing when the leaf was fresh (see other photo). But now I am working from the photo – as the leaf is…[Read more]
Hi Patricia, I’m so sorry this took me so long to get to! This is such a beautiful leaf. That purple color is so rich. I think you are doing a great job. Your highlights are great, your veins look nice and natural, and your colors are fantastic. If you want to try to get a little bit darker, you could go back in with some more dark indigo, and…[Read more]
