You are getting there Anne Marie- the secondary veins are not as evident as they were on the previous post. Also when you look at a leaf you will often find that the secondary veins connect to the main vein. The left edge is now more defined, but be careful not to have it outlined. I would lighten the left edge as it is an area that is in…[Read more]

This drawing has gotten to the point where I’m not sure if it needs anything more and/or I’m afraid of ruining it. Does this happen to anyone else?

I think it looks amazing

Gorgeous Erin! The pillows are reading really well! That is always the big question – am I done? I think as time goes by it becomes easier to recognize when a drawing is done. Especially if you are uncertain, but also just in general if you take a break from working on a piece it can give you some perspective when you look at it again. A lot of…[Read more]

Great turnip Deborah! It is beautifully drawn with good attention to the details! There are a couple of things to consider. If a subject is very shiny, that is portrayed by having a very white highlight as you have shown here. I don’t think of turnips as being particularly shiny and if that is the case with yours I would add some color and tone d…[Read more]

Welcome to the ArtFeed Deborah! Your drawing is nicely rendered and your color selection and saturation on the beet are really good! Your main highlight is almost in the center and ideally should be over to the left a little. I would also make the outside edge of the highlight more irregular so it does not appear as such a distinct circle. Wonderful job!

Thank you so much for your help! This was the first veggie I drew in the first class I took here, and will definitely address these issues. I will also practice my toning.
-
Hi Deborah- I would never guess this is your first veggie! It is already a wonderful drawing and with the tweaks I suggested it will be even more so. I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Hi Erin- wishing you a speedy and comfortable recovery! Good job with the leaf. The colors and details are really good. You can see some pillowing and I think you can play that up even more. Take care!

I’m between knee surgeries so I decided the best way to recuperate was to get out the art supplies. I did this drawing from a leaf rubbing and couldn’t resist all those details!
