@pgthompson and @sam-mcwilliams, THANK YOU for a very informative and fun leaves class! I have been working on updates to my two leaves and would love your feedback. I feel that they are much better but may need a little more?

Looking good, Becky! That variegated leaf is just gorgeous. And the leaf of then left is looking really nice and 3D. You could still vary the highlights a bit here and there by knocking them down in some areas. But these are both wonderful. Great job!

Nice job Marie! Good toning and range of tones. There are a couple of things to consider – be careful not to outline a subject, which is especially obvious on the fruit. It would be more pleasing to the eye if the bottom of the branch continued past the tip of the leaf.

Really nice Susan? It looks even better in person! The petals have so much form with a small amount of toning.

Hi Patricia- the purples and reds are hard to do and these pansies look good! I don’t know if I would have been thrown by the stems and leaves if I hadn’t seen the photo. Your view appears to be from above while the view from the photo is from the side and looks lusher. The more I look at it the view of the stems and leaves looks like they are tie…[Read more]

Oh wow! This is so gorgeous,Wendy! I love how you treat those petals, you have no fear. It wonderful how you manage to use all those bright colours, contrasts and textures and still manage to make them look like the most delicate flowers. Humbling.

I had a hard time with this one, Doug. Pleased you think I got a good result. Those tiny flowers are a lot of trouble!

I love both but maybe I like this one better because it looks like a spring party! I would like to be walking among these flowers!

Oh wow. The petals look so light and delicate. They might fly out of the paper!

This is really lovely, Maureen! Those fuzzy bits are great. I love the pussy willows on the Kraft paper. One of the things that Wendy tells us to try to avoid compositionally, is creating an X. We are seeing that here, but I don’t think it’s distracting in this composition. Just thought I’d bring it up for future drawings. Great work!
Thanks Pam, I didn’t know about the “X”, I sure will keep that tip in mind for future projects!
