Really nice, heather! Those overlaps are fantastic. Now, imagine that the entire cluster of roots as a whole is a cylinder. See if you can tone that cluster with that cylinder in mind. Make sense?

Fantastic, Laurie! It’s feeling more 3D now. Way to go!!

You go girl! These cherries are great!. Nice 3 dimensionality – toned very nicely. I love how you get that stem of the back cherry nice and dark, it really helps to push it behind the others. It’s hard with something so tiny, but you could try taking a verithin pencil, get it really really sharp, and try to do some cylinder toning on the stems in…[Read more]

Delightful! I love how you used the seed pod as a basket for the flowers. The yellow flowers help the eye to move around the composition. And they are beautifully drawn. My eye rests on that gorgeous yellow flower on the lower right. Those little anthers inside that deep dark throat is fantastic!

Hi Pam,
Thank you for your feedback and suggestions on the tulip drawing. I am reposting it after working on it some more. I tried to put more dhading on the right side and lighten up the highlight and refine it a bit. If you have any more suggestions on how that looks, I would appreciate it. I wasn’t quite sure how it was w…[Read more] -

Thanks, Pam. I’m glad the eye is moving better in my “reconstituted “ version. I think I have to watch out for overdoing, filling in too much….

Hi Sheila- I am noticing the layering on this piece more than usual and the dimensionality really works for this basket of beautiful Spring flowers.
-
Thanks, Doug. It has more depth because I cut up a piece that had some drawings glued on, so double thickness. Something I’ll keep in mind!
