    • Hi Zara, nice smooth toning on this pear. The delicate transition to the highlights is beautiful. I’d like to see you include a core shadow and reflective light .If you have Wendy’s The Joy of Botanical Drawing, check out pages 43-45. She has great instruction on these aspects. In general, think about the light source. How is the light landing on the sphere? How is the light blocked by the sphere? How is the light bouncing back from the table and reflecting on the backside of the sphere?

    • I thought something was missing. I will practice shadows next. Thanks!

    • Yes, very nice toning, Zara, and lovely drawing. Katy had great suggestions. One thing to try to keep in mind is that the right side is not going to have as much light hitting it as the left side (if you are lighting your object from the upper left). So that right side will always be darker than the left side. Right now, the left and right edges appear to be about the same value. Just something to keep in the back of your head when you are toning. But really nice drawing, Zara. I feel like I could take a bite out of this pear, and feel the texture of the skin.

    • @pgthompson thanks for your feedback! It’s much appreciated, I will keep that in mind for my next drawing, a plum…
