Thanks for your input on my last feed. I continue to struggle with mid-tones, so I went back to an exercise in Wendy’s Botanical Drawing in Color, Page 26. Attached feed is a tone bar using Faber Castell Dark Sepia, on the Stonehenge Aqua paper. Thanks for your input.
Hi Mary- your tone bar looks good. There are a couple of things to try. I would draw the segment lines on the actual tone bar (you have them off to the side). I think it would be easier to see from box to box if you have achieved the range you wanted and adjust accordingly (especially in the mid-ranges). In doing these exercises myself I have tried starting with the lightest tone and building up layers towards the darkest tone and I have also done the reverse by starting dark and working towards the light. It is a good exercise and you may find one way easier and/or more successful.
