Carol, this is a good start. I have a few suggestions for you: 1. Work your highlights a bit more so they are not straight lines and are not in the center of the branch. Push them so they are on the side that the light is coming from and make them a bit more irregular; break up the line a bit so it doesn’t look like empty space. 2. The branch in the middle looks like it is not in perspective. This is a tough angle, and to show it well, you’ll need to understand foreshortening and ellipses. The cut edge that we see should probably look less like a circle and more like an ellipse, and the edge at the far end of the stick should complement that as well. Try drawing some more cylinder shapes from different angles to practice this, and look at Lessons 4 and 7 for more info about ellipses and measuring in perspective. 3. Try adding some more dark tones where the branches overlap each other; this will give your drawing some more depth and help us understand what is on top in this arrangement. Great work! Keep it up!
