Hi Cathie- Comparing the 2 versions side by side I see that the flower looks crisper now. It might be the quality of the new image, but when I compare your earlier version and this one it appears that the whole flower is darker and it has lost some of the dark toning around the stamens. I would try to work on that area again to retrieve that punch. I think you could also still emphasize the highlights more. The petals still look too uniform in tone and color. Sometimes the simplest flowers are the hardest to capture. You will get there! There are some fellow artists on the ArtFeed that have posted cosmos and also check out books and the internet for inspiration!

Great points, Doug. Yes, I think some more tonal variety on the petals will help give them some dimension. Remember that you want highlights as well as shadows in those petals, even if they are very subtle. Some little dark details in the center will really make this pop. I LOVE that little bud!! So sweet, and so detailed!
