I’m working on the Year Long Challenge. I have a small branch from a Carolina Allspice that I transplanted several years ago. It’s a small shrub with deep bergundy flowers that bloom in June and smell like strawberries. View
Absolutely gorgeous colour! Love that saturation! This must be the ‘onyx ‘variety?? Bce it’s so dark??

Donna, the shine on the top petal is totally working, but maybe make it look a little more irregular, so it doesn’t feel like a horizontal line across the petal? Just “wiggle” it a little more to give it that natural variation, and I think you really got the shine! Tough subject with all the dark colors! Really makes for a nice, strong focal point where the stamens pop out. 🙂
