I’m working on the Year Long Challenge. I have a small branch from a Carolina Allspice that I transplanted several years ago. It’s a small shrub with deep bergundy flowers that bloom in June and smell like strawberries. View
Donna, your drawings are so delicately rendered – beautiful!

Love this, Donna! The composition is really fun, and the colors on the green strawberries are nice and light. My only suggestion would be to refine the surface texture of the red berry. It has nice contour and shading, but I sort of wish the seeds were more obvious? Does that make sense? It may require a fine pen or … some embossing? I don’t know, maybe it’s too late, but I just wish the outer seeds were more prominent on that guy. The subtle dimples, shadows, and highlights that are created by the seeds really would add to the strawberry-like texture. Lovely work, as always!

Thank you so much for the feedback… a friend has the drawing, but if I can get it back for a while I’ll try to work some more on those seeds!
