Hi Liz- nice job on the hyacinth bulb. The toning is looking good, but I would add a little more darker tone (the darker side of mid-range) as it moves from the right side of the bulb toward the highlight. The way you have done the roots it looks like they are multi-colored, which may be the case (?). Roots in the back will be darker, but there are some that curve forward into the light yet they are still colored dark. Also, even though the roots are thin they still should have toning on them so they look round. Spring is coming!

Yes, Liz, keep in mind, too, that the lighter roots in front could also have some variation in tone so that they “move” a bit more. You can do this by adding tone at the top or bottom of a root, just so that it’s not one flat tone, but shifts from one to another. Nice job keeping track of these as they overlap–that’s the trickiest part!
