Love this! Great idea to draw these three – usually only think about them when cooking!

@jeannebenson I love this concept and composition! It makes me want to cook a soup! 🙂 Gorgeous onion skin and wonderful “dancing” between elements; leaves, roots, etc; my eye is loving traveling around this page. Can’t wait to see it with the celery.
Hi Holly,
In can give you an estimate I think. I spend about 2 hours drawing most days. Not always on the same project. I worked on the onion and carrot over the course of one week. I had worked out the celery over the week before that. I just finished adding the celery to the finished Mirepoix and adding more depth over all as suggested in class and that took maybe three days off and on. I have it pinned up to my wall to give it a rest and may return once my eyes are refreshed from looking at it. But I think this one is done. Hope this helps in some way. I work fairly slowly and methodically. I am surprised when something appears to be finished!
Jeanne , this is absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait to see it with the celery…

Thank you Eileen. Workin on it.
Yes, it’s a mirepoix. Thanks Liz.
I collect recipes so inevitable that some of it will show up in my work! Thank you Vern.
This is gorgeous. I love the composition and subject.
Jeanne – this is just gorgeous! I love how you were able to capture all those little “hairs” on the carrot. Beautiful!
Really lovely work Jeanne, brilliant highlights. x
Thanks so much Nancy.
The “hairs” are great fun to make.
Hi Sally! Thanks for your kind words. Not too much light? Hope to find out tonight.
I love this. How many hours has it taken you so far?
