Hi Catherine! This is a nice composition! The white highlights on the segment really give it a juicy quality! The colors are very good but they need more saturation. The paper has a lot of texture, are you using a hot pressed paper? Be careful with your cast shadows. First off, cast shadows should just be suggestions to ground your subject to the paper. Your cast shadows are too dark. They will be dark at the edge of the subject, but then they should fade lighter as they move away from the subject. Lastly, it looks like your light source is directly overhead. The botanical standard is if you are left handed, the light source is coming from the right at a 45 degree angle. Take a look at some of Wendy’s drawings, especially her recent citrus drawing for reference and inspiration!
