Hi Elizabeth- this really reads as a front and back view of leaf. On the front view I would add more dark toning along the left side of the main vein. Check the leaf again if you still have it. A lot of times the secondary leaves are not so straight, but have twists and turns to them. I think of magnolia leaves as being shiny. If that is the case here I would make the highlights even whiter, which helps convey the shine. The veins on the back of leaves often sit up on top of the leaf surface and you see the connection to the main vein. I would give that a second look and alter the drawing accordingly if needed.
