My mallow study page from the Hollengold Farm workshop. I will work on this a bit more — I want to clarify the edges of the leaf in the egg sac detail in the bottom right corner and continue to build up the drybrush layers in the closed bud. And I plan on adding some color to the detail of the style and stamens/anthers. I’ll probably add some notes about the plant and my memories of working on this during the workshop.
Wow, so much beauty in one page! The detailed work you have done and will continue doing, is very inspiring. Thanks for sharing and I’m looking forward to seeing your plans for the rest.
Maureen! The flow of this layout is so engaging. Beautiful art and excellent observation – a great meeting of artistic and scientific mind. It was so fun spending the weekend with you and I look forward to more adventures.
Thank you, @sam-mcwilliams — it was great spending time with you and I’m also looking forward to more adventures! (And I did get to bird Central Park on Monday; I found some confusing fall warblers and an impressive number of cormorants, in addition to our usual year-round residents.) BTW, my friend went to a nature-themed writing workshop last weekend at this place in Oregon and it might be worth considering for a PNW Draw Botanical workshop: https://playasummerlake.org/
