Thank you, Doug, for your feedback. Here’s a drawing with more toning. It seems to me that the real drawing is much darker than it appears here. But I am amazed at how even what looks quite dark can go even darker.
Great job Patricia! The form of the branch is much stronger now. A lot of us get nervous about going too dark, but including darks in the appropriate places can make a big impact and make subjects look more realistic – especially when you are establishing a subject’s form. One of the great things about working with color pencils is that if you go too dark, it is usually pretty easy to lighten it. Beautiful branch!
