This is beautiful Maureen! I love the colors and how you rendered the leaf. I am confused by the flower though. I don’t see those dark tones inside the trumpet that should be there to convey the lilies architecture. The petals and sepals on the left need dark toning to illustrate the well that they and the stamens are originating from. Look on-line at botanical drawings of lilies, amaryllis or other trumpet shaped flowers for reference. This is almost there!
Hi Doug, I posted a reshaded version of this lily, I think it went a little muddy as I went straight to.dark sepia for petal funnel. In retrospect I would have chosen a burnt ochre and maybe used a watercolor wash. Any thoughts? So grateful for your feedback
