RECORDED March 26 & 29, 2023

Instructors: Pam & Sam
Level: All levels
Botanical Subject(s): Spring Bulbs (paperwhites, amaryllis, daffodils, crocus).

This time of year, you can often find forced spring bulbs at grocery stores, big box stores, or local gardening centers. If you can’t find these, you can substitute onions, shallots, or chives, and any simple white flowers.

Workshop Description: Jump into spring and explore the wonder of adding bright white highlights to your deep dark shadows on tan Kraft Paper to bring your drawings to life. These spring beauties will be the perfect subjects to practice slow-toning by combining colored pencil and watercolor on mid-tone Kraft Paper.

Our workshops include a set of pre-recorded videos for you to watch as you prepare for class, as well as recordings of each workshop session, delivered via email. We encourage collaboration and community, and we strive to create a safe virtual environment for everyone to draw together. We provide live demonstrations on the first day of a workshop and constructive critique of your work on the second day. ALL of the registration and video material for this workshop is delivered to you via email. Please be sure to add info@drawbotanical.com to your email contacts so that you do not miss correspondence from us!

Recommended Supplies:

Note: This is a KRAFT PAPER workshop. Be sure to bring Kraft Paper. We also highly recommend a Prismacolor wax white pencil and Faber Castell Polychromos Colored Pencil #179 (Bistre).

Find all of the supplies that we recommend here. Feel free to follow along with any supplies you have (your result may just end up looking a little different). Our lessons are about a combination of fundamental 3D art concepts and colored pencil and watercolor technique, so you can skip the supplies-specific tips and still learn a lot about art basics including perspective, light source, composition, etc. One of the main points we teach is colored pencil and watercolor technique for slow, continuous toning, but as long as you are able to achieve the same blending result with your chosen materials, you can still benefit from our course lessons.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations at least two weeks in advance will receive a 75% refund. If you cancel less than one week up to 48 hours before the event, you will receive a 50% refund (less 5% processing fee) if we can find someone to replace your spot. Less than 48 hours cancellation, we cannot issue a refund. You will still receive all recordings from the workshop, and you can watch them at your convenience.

We reserve the right to cancel a workshop at any time. If we cancel a workshop, you will receive a full refund.
