Photo in the group The Practice of Botanical Drawing Discussion Board 7 years, 11 months agoI forgot to add to my drawing that I doubled the size of the flower. It was tiny! I’ll have to sneak back on that trail and see if I spot any more of these. I came home with 2 blooms and some buds. I was able to get one of the buds to come out (which is what I drew) but none of the others have bloomed. I’ll work on the leaves some more! 🙂 -

Photo in the group The Practice of Botanical Drawing Discussion Board 7 years, 11 months agothank you Wendy and Vern. I am planning on adding the bulb in the right lower corner, and thinking of some petals on the lower left . My new laptop was not compatible with the photoshop version I had, so until I can update I will have to take a photo instead.

Photo in the group The Practice of Botanical Drawing Discussion Board 7 years, 11 months agoI love to do the same kind of flower or similar varieties over and over. It is one of the best ways to learn and progress. I will post a daylily painting that I am currently working on which has 4 dallies thus far, and will have one more added soon! -

Photo in the group The Practice of Botanical Drawing Discussion Board 7 years, 11 months agoThank you so much! I followed Wendy’s suggestion to try another daylily and to draw one that has more irregularities in the petals. I’m surprised how much I’m enjoying drawing the same flower multiple times! -

Photo in the group The Practice of Botanical Drawing Discussion Board 7 years, 11 months agoThanks Dee. I am happy with it. Much better after trying to do what Wendy said. I just feel like I could do better if I tried again after learning from this one :). But very happy. Can’t believe what I’ve learned through this course. -

Photo in the group The Practice of Botanical Drawing Discussion Board 7 years, 11 months agoI love the leaves, too! I’m not sure if this would work with your scanner but I have scanned two halves and merged them together afterwards on my computer.
-
Thanks, Dee. I’ll play around with it and see, although figuring out how to do that will be a feat for me!
-
I use Publisher because it’s pretty straightforward. I open the document, make the background transparent, open the 2nd document and make that background transparent then line up the 2 halves. I hope that helps a bit!
-
thanks. not sure what publisher is, but I will research
-
Publisher is Microsoft’s graphic design program.

Photo in the group The Practice of Botanical Drawing Discussion Board 7 years, 11 months agoThank you so much! I’m afraid to attempt the rose lesson so I feel your pain. I think you’ll really enjoy drawing roots after you watch the class. 🙂 -

Photo in the group The Practice of Botanical Drawing Discussion Board 7 years, 11 months agoThanks Wendy! Exactly the kind of advice I needed. Now that I’m looking at these foxglove drawings through your eyes I can see that they are flat. Looking forward to working on them some more. Thanks for the feedback! -
