The form is better on this sphere Mary, but I think you could push the shadow toning even more. The position of the main highlight needs to shift over to the left a little. It is too much in the center. See my comments about the reflected light on your blue sphere post. Good job!

Nice color selection. I think you could enhance the sphere’s form more by adding more dark and mid-tone toning on the right side and bottom. The reflected light could be toned down a little by adding some color. It should not be as white as the main highlight. It often also appears closer to the edge of the subject. Since you trying to recreate a…[Read more]

Great color selection and saturation Mary! Also the patterning is very well done! The highlights at the top give the apple a really nice shine, but be careful with the placement of the main highlight. It is too close to the center of the apple and should shift to the left a little.

Hi Mary- as with the sphere drawing, your cast shadows are not in the correct position. Maybe this is due to conflicting light sources. If you are right handed, the botanical standard is that the light is coming over your left shoulder at a 45 degree angle. If you are left handed the light is coming over your right shoulder.

It is hard to have a full range of tones on narrow roots, etc but you have a nice range here to give them form.

Great job Mary! I think this is the first time somebody has had fun with this lesson! It looks like a close up of woven fabric. Each thread has nice form!

Welcome to the ArtFeed Mary! Nice job on the sphere! A couple of areas to revisit. The dark shadow shading should come up the fight side higher than you have shown. Also, the cast shadow is in the wrong position. Judging from your highlight, the light is coming from the left (at a 45 degree angle over your left shoulder) so the cast shadow…[Read more]
