Hi Katy, Yes it should have been rotated. I have just checked out pages 43-45 and gone back to the lesson video and will keep practicing. Thank you for your quality feedback.

Great job Laurie! The toning, color selection and saturation are really good as are the skin details! The reflected highlight is also really well done!!!!

Fantastic Jill! You do such a masterful job toning your subject for form, but still retain your colors and details.

Hi Jill, I knew it was only a matter a time before you did a real carbunclely squash! I’ve been looking forward to seeing it! This is great! I love the curly stem and splotches of green. I’ve done a few myself. I find it so much fun creating that funky surface. And those orange and yellows make me happy!

Sharon, This is beautiful! So well toned. You’re showing a real sensitive touch. Great job! You could even bring those texture lines more into the highlight area. Just be careful to keep them light and reflect what is happening with the light source.

Good exercise page. Nice to see you more on to the cylinder shape! Watch out for those vertical stripes. You want that toning to be seamless!

Nice toning, Sharon! Strange to have the light coming from below. I’m assuming this should be rotated? I think you could be more careful the shadow side. If you have Wendy’s The Joy of Botanical Drawing, check out pages 43-45. She has great instruction on shadows. In general, think about the light source. How is the light landing on the sphere? Hi Sharon, Nice toning bars. I love the star punches! And the value steps on that one are very good. On the right two scales, the values on the dark side are pretty good, but I see a drop off between step 7 and 8. I’d just extend your scale a few more steps to fit in all the values you’re missing.
