I love that shiny buckeye! and the details of the thorny surfaces. Beautiful!

I agree with Vern. Lovely as it is. Maybe a more distinct cast shadow on the leaf behind the flower to set it forward more and perhaps more of the saturated green of that main leaf on the rest of the drawing.

I love those dark colors, too! With the claw-like stems, there is a real drama to the piece.

I agree with Doug. Of all your recent posts, the little fuzzy leaf is my favourite because I know for certain that the time taken to achieve all that subtle detail does not have a direct relationship to the size of the leaf!

@pgthompson thanks, Pam. Your idea about scattered elements got me adding seeds! Happy 2021! -

Thank you all for the feedback. The flower opened so quickly the drawing and photos weren’t matching up which totally confused me my attempts to capture the mid-way drama. I will try to continue with the final bloom. HAPPY NEW YEAR (the only thing good about 2020 was meeting botanical friends. Take care, Wendy

Such a powerful image Sam!!!!! There are so many wonderful things to look at here that I don’t think the blemish distracts at all!

Now I am planning my composition. I used tracing paper to try out some ideas. I have also planted my bulb and hope it will start growing soon so I can add in the stem on to the bulb.
