Gorgeous. Those whites, blues and purples look so awesome on the Kraft paper, right? So luminous.

Very good study, Rebecca – keep up the good work. Always tone down the reflective highlight a bit – the one from the surface the form sits on on the right – it shouldn’t be too bright.

So basically this is slowly driving me up the wall, it’s taking me so long! Very, very far from being finished, but any suggestions as I plod along would be gratefully received!

think about the whole group of flowers called an inflorescence before getting so detailed in each flower. Have a good idea of your light source in your head so you can shade some flowers darker in shadow, and those lighter in the high lit areas. Here is a hydrangea I am currently working on. they are complicated and you are doing a great job On…
-
Great, thanks Wendy. They really are very complicated!

Susan, those roots are alive, working their way out of the soil! I also love the amount of red onion (?) you included and where you got really dark under the onion.

I agree with Doug, everything about this drawing is exquisite! I also love the leaves and keep coming back to the beautiful center of color and textured details!

Thanks, Susan. I was glad to see how spaced apart they are on the stem! We will soak them and cook them as soon as it’s a little cooler. Heat wave right now! -

Thanks, Pam. I can’t wait to see what you draw on it. I loved your milkweed! -

These are beautiful- very ethereal on the craft paper. Lovely composition of stems and beans. Did you eat them?

Oh Sheila. You’ve convinced me. I’m ordering some kraft paper now :).
Beautiful.

I did not get the brightness I wanted here. I should have put the white down first I realized after the monthly meeting discussion. It was interesting to see garbanzos on the stem. We bought a little “bouquet” of them at the Farmers market.

Looking at them on my bigger computer, the color is beautiful; and the stems are so nice with the color varying in them.

Susan, thanks for your feedback and looking so closely. I sure wish I’d brought more Kraft paper. Who knew?

That’s a good idea, Vern. I’ll try that. I actually got the pods lighter on a second attempt. I’ll post it. Thanks!

Fresh harvested garlic and sweet peas from our Farm to Drawing Table Workshop July 24-26. We had a great weekend! Harvested at Sweet Digz Farm, Richmond, BC. More work to do on the open pea pod… this drawing was raffled off along with drawings by Wendy and Vern to support Soul Fire Farms, a BIPOC*-centered community farm committed to ending…[Read more]
Wow, this a beautiful drawing: the roots, the very dimensional peas nestled in their pods and the cause!!!
Really nice, Sam! Love the opened pea pod and the arrangement of the subjects.
Really nice Sam, your sepals are always so full of character and I love the roots of the garlic. If we end up driving to the island in September I’ll try to look you up in Vancouver, we’re just over in Edmonton but often go to the coast to visit family. It’s great having you in the workshops.
