Thank you, Doug, for your advice. I tried to add darks to the bottom leaves, but I am not happy with what I did, especially the bottom left leaf. I hope to receive more help at the next webinar.

Hi Ingrid- it is getting better! There are still pieces that are not uniform with their toning. You really challenged yourself by having so many pieces and adding the details. Generally the overlapping grid lesson uses simple pieces (pencils, chopsticks, etc make good models). The next exercise would be a drawing of (at least three) overlapping…[Read more]

Hi Machi! Your leaves are beautifully drawn as I have come to expect from you! I think you could use a little more dark toning in places on the bottom leaves, especially on the leaf at bottom left. I am a little thrown by the deep fuschia color of the top leaves, but autumn leaves can be so unique!

Hi Ingrid- you have a good range of tones on the crab apples. Even if the crab apples were dried out causing the irregular shapes, I would smooth out the edges to make the apples look more like how we would expect them to look.

Autumn leaves collected while taking a walk in the neighborhood. Top two came from one tree and the bottom three came from another tree. Don’t know the names of the trees. I will have to wait for next spring to see what they are.

@doug -milne Good morning Doug, Thank you for your feedback and your example. Based on your feedback I adjusted my drawing. I hope that my drawing is now closer to reality and has become better.

Great job Ingrid! Your color selection and saturation are great! Because of the yellow undertones the translucent texture is also really good! The one section to revisit is the reflected light. It is too white and too controlled in shape. You are trying to create a glow that is a reflection from the surface the tomato is sitting on, so it is…[Read more]

Found it! Hope this helps! If you can reconstruct your branches (or substitutes) pay attention to the shadows created by the angled branches when appropriately lit.

Hi Doug,
Today I practiced with branches that overlap each other. It was a challenge to get the highlights in the right place on each branch. I would like to get feedback on this.
I also placed reflective highlights on some branches. I would like to hear whether I have applied this technique correctly.
Other tips are…[Read more]

Hello Doug, Thank you for your feedback. The tips are very valuable. Because I have not yet learned the techniques of structure, I have not tried to apply it yet in this study. I will practice this at another time. -
