Workshop Description:
Join artists and instructors Vern Fannin, Pam Thompson, and Wendy Hollender for a three-day journey into the joyful art of nature journaling, where no detail is too small to sketch, paint, or celebrate. Nestled between an apple orchard and a local brewery, Hollengold Farm offers a dreamy environment to slow down, look closely, and turn your weekend into a book of art.

🌿 What to Expect
Each day begins at 10am, wraps up around 4pm, and includes live demonstrations in colored pencil, watercolor pencil, and micron pen, as well as plenty of time for you to wander, sketch, and implement the new skills you learn at your own pace.
Whether you’re drawn to dahlias and zinnias in the garden beds, cattails around the natural swimming pool, or a stunning slice of quiche before your first bite, your sketchbook becomes a travelogue of personal discoveries, a meaningful record full of loving reflections and joyful memories.Â
“At the end of a workshop, I have produced something I’m proud of and had fun doing it!… And I find that I learn so much in the workshops.” – Teri G., Draw Botanical Student

🤓 Who We Are
Vern brings fresh inspiration from her recent travel journaling workshops in Greece, and Pam brings her approachable teaching style and eye for detail. Together, they’ll guide you in observing and recording not just what you see, but what you notice and question as you move through the world. Wendy may do a few demonstrations of more advanced techniques. All instructors will be available to work individually with anyone that wants their attention. Learn more about our instructors here.

đź“— Journey through Journaling
This workshop is about more than drawing plants (though we’ll do plenty of that!). You’ll capture the landscapes, the changing light, the meals you share, the pathways you wander, and the quiet moments in between.

The goal of nature journaling is not to make amazing art (which we are sure you will!), but to create something that is totally unique, completely you, and captures life that only you can be experiencing in this specific place and time. Every participant receives a sketchbook to fill over the course of the weekend, so you return home with a keepsake memory of your artistic adventure.

🌼 ALL Curious Creatives Welcome
You’ll be in good company! We welcome artists of all experience levels, from practiced illustrators to first-time journalers. The focus is on loose, expressive drawing—no pressure for perfect realism, just your honest impressions in color and ink.
We love to see friendships blossom beside the plants we draw. Our workshops gather people who all share the same passion for creating and appreciating nature, which provides fertile soil for sowing seeds of friendship! Everyone is encouraging, supportive, and excited to be there.
“Workshops are fun, informative and I enjoy the camaraderie. The process of learning and creating in shared interest workshops is contagious! – Wendy K., Draw Botanical Student”
