Photo in the group Botanical Basics Discussion Board 7 years, 8 months agoI worked on trying to make the branch more cylindrical. I’m starting to like this drawing, so any advice about how to improve it would be great. Thanks! -

Photo in the group Botanical Basics Discussion Board 7 years, 8 months agoThanks! Ill continue with this one instead of starting over if you think it’s on the right track I’ll work on the branch some more. -

Photo in the group Botanical Basics Discussion Board 7 years, 8 months agoThis is another try from a different perspective. I’m just not getting it. I’m going to stop until I get advice so I don’t make it worse, and I’ll practice the lessons some more instead. -

Photo in the group Botanical Basics Discussion Board 7 years, 8 months agoThank you. I can see where I could have toned some more. Also, the texture of the branch did not have a shiny highlight. The texture was actually rough. Should I have toned down the branch in the highlighted areas? Maybe taken the tone up to a #4? -

Photo in the group Botanical Basics Discussion Board 7 years, 8 months agoThis branch is excellent. The knots are very good. You can still tone a bit more to avoid an outline on the right side. -

Photo in the group Botanical Basics Discussion Board 7 years, 8 months agoThis looks good. Highlights can still be a bit less stripy by occasionally toning a bit into the lightest area -

Photo in the group Botanical Basics Discussion Board 7 years, 9 months agoThis is a good composition! . Your flower drawings could improve with careful study of each petal and now they radiate out of the center. You have a good start here, that is something to work on in the future!!!

Photo in the group Botanical Basics Discussion Board 7 years, 9 months agothis is great, very gradual toning. Highlights are tricky. I like to make them a bit irregular so they don’t appear a stripe but once you move on to forms in nature you will see how to do that because nature is not perfect but irregular! -

Photo in the group Botanical Basics Discussion Board 7 years, 10 months agoLight flowers are tricky but believe it or not they still need to be rendered with some darker accents so they don’t appear flat. The trick on light flowers is to use darks sparingly but still use bits here and there on the edges of petals and close to the center of the flower to create the illusion of depth. Hibiscus flowers are great subjects to… -

Photo in the group Botanical Basics Discussion Board 7 years, 10 months agoOh and I didn’t get time to do the colouring before the flower shriveled up to nothing! I found it on a walk somewhere so unfortunately did not have access to another. - Load More
