Hello Sam, I’m a bit embarrassed, because I’m new to the program and thought I was putting my photos in a private folder. Apologies if it looked as though I was demanding feedback from you!
Having said that, I appreciate your comments very much, so thank you for your time. Can others see this work too?
I’m from Australia and have dabbled in…[Read more]

Thanks so much, Sam! This was very challenging but I did have a lot of fun with it. Do you think I should darken the bottom areas to make them look more grounded?

Thanks, Sam! I don’t think I used indigo anywhere, will try!

Oh my! This is phenomenal. How long to drawings like this take you Sam?

Beautiful!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Sam!!! Those veins!!! Amazing!!!!

Just beautiful!

@petapumpkineater I think I worked on this for 3 days! A looooong time. I am a very slow draw-er. This plant, mamaki, really drew me in and held me close and wouldn’t let go. It’s used for tea in Hawaii, so I had the pleasure of drying and steeping the leaves as well and enjoying a lovely, calming tea.

Wonderful, Renata. Wonderful shadows and shading – this feels just like this plant. You really captured its qualities. Did you use indigo anywhere? Could be good in a few key dark places as the “cool” of the blue will help some areas recede. Beautiful drawing.

Nice! 6-7-8-9 can go darker. And in your yellow/brown/dark sepia work on a smoother transition from right to left 9-8-7-6.

The highlights can even move a touch more to the right, if lit from the right. If you draw a vertical and horizontal axis line, the highlight will be in the upper right quadrant.

Wonderful studies, Peta. Are you a left or right handed drawer? It’s good to keep your light source consistent on a page. The sphere and column on the upper left look lit from the left. The tomatoes on lower right look lit from the right. I like those vein studies. π

Lovely, Ishbel. You are really making that white pop on the Kraft! Super eye catching saturation and movement. π

Love! Maybe one more fallen blossom to the right of the branch below the lyrics so that some yellow/shape crosses the diagonal of the branch?

Nice Carolyn! Also let some marks/texture go across the highlight columns as well. π Great drawing!

Very good studies! You can let even more soft shading and texture go across the highlights on the sticks to show the irregular textures, shapes and bumpiness.

Very cool. So beautiful.

I adore it as is. What do you think @pgthompson
-
I think it is wonderful as is. If you want to make them more grounded you could consider putting some βgroundβ in (pebbles/rocks/sand kind of thing). But I donβt think this needs it. Could be fun though π

Thank you @sam-mcwilliams, it’s been such a fantastic week of drawing for me. I have learnt SOOO much in the first videos and enjoy trying all the different skills. Once I go through them all, I’ll work on practising the things I need to work on (like reflected highlights and cast shadows… ugh… driving me nuts). Thanks for letting me know how…[Read more]
