I agree with Pat, it does look really cool. Yes – you can add watercolour in. Observe – would they be a light green? Do they appear darker near the margin of the leaves? Are they darker in the shadow side? You could leave them white where the highlight is for emphasis. Very cool patterns.

You could do some thumbnail quick sketches in only dark sepia of where your highlights and shaded sides are, so that you can “see” the forms before you start colouring.

These are looking great and fun together. I like that white one. Verithin grey can be helpful for outlining yellow petals. So can a sharp earth green. Work on showing me a highlight on each petal. Looks like the white streaks in the red petal could be toned down – observe – are they a light red? The highlight and the shadow on the red are looking…[Read more]

Yes, I can really feel the paper like disintegrating quality of those late fall leaves. A perfect capture of a story of the season

On this very windy day I drew some blown away leaves. I did not have the right water colors handy hence the white embossed veins. Should I add it on top? Any and all suggestions welcome, as always. Thank you!!

Thank you! That is so nice to read. And for the advice. I will try it out for sure.

Happy with all petals but the top right. I was struggeling with how to define the edge of the light yellow petals and went with dark sepia. Suggestions on how to do this next time very welcome, as is feedback on improving this work. THANK YOU!!

Katy, I’m not a poet at all. Those are lyrics to Dancing in the Moonlight, one of the best feel good songs ever! I also drew it on the day of a full moon. Its not important, just satisfying.

“Last call” indeed. I agree with Doug. I I feel the withering! So fragile. And nice observation on the twig’s growth patterns and winter buds

Sara, you are such a poet! I love reading the comments on your drawings. Also beautiful drawing the colors are very etherial. My one comment would be to add some more elements to the page. It seems a bit weighted to the bottom. Love that you used the seeds for your O’s!

Nice page! I agree with Sam on the holly texture and I love the “pillows” you create between the veins.

As for your drawing…congrats on trying the wax paper embosser trick. I have yet to try it. You are inspiring me on that one too! It seems to work quite nicely!

Yes, lovely testimony. I cherish my Mom’s white climbing rose, it was her mother’s. And she loved it. I’ve never drawn it. But you have inspired me. Next June when it blooms.
