@wendy Hi Wendy, thank you for your feedback and helpful suggestions! I have made the highlight smaller. I also tried out the cast shadow on tracing paper. I’m not sure if I’m getting it right. I tried lighting the gourd with a flashlight and then just an overhead light. Would love to know your thoughts. Thank you!

Hi Jill, @jill-amadei: I think the shadows could work, but be sure to add a bit of the stem which isn’t in your photo. Your highlight made smaller is on the way but still can get messed up more by putting some tones inside the highlight so it becomes shimmery rather that a solid light spot. Thanks so much for the feedback @wendy @vern and @sam-mcwilliams I will work on the highlight a bit more. I have not done very many cast shadows, except for on more basic shapes than this. So I feel a little intimidated by the cast shadow of this gourd. I will practice on something else. I have many gourds I’d like to draw! Thanks again!

I really like the pinecone! You have a full tonal range. And the drawing is quite good. It is one of those drawings I keep wanting to look at. But the gingko leaf needs the same TLC. Greetings! The dark toning you added looks better than your original post and I am happy to see you retained those beautiful colors! As Sam said you could still push the darks some more and good for you that you recognized the need to be consistent with your highlight placement!

Great Job Mia! Yes, you already see it, you can push your darks on your shadow side so that they really read as spherical. You can creep on in towards your highlight on your Red Biased Toward Orange. Yes! Looking good Lucille. Watch out for the dark outlining of the main vein. I see that you let it fade out a bit in some places – that’s a good instinct.
