Thanks for the helpful feedback Vern! I will definitely keep your tips in mind next time I try a leaf.

Thank you Vern! I appreciate your positive words! I have not tried drawing a cross section yet and was a bit scared to add it to this composition, in case it didn’t come out as good as the whole lemon. I’ll practice a bit before and consider adding to it

I started out to see if I could get the garbanzo pods closer to the light color they are. Trying to play around with this Kraft paper. A lot of questions left, but only one more sheet. I’ll definitely get more as soon as we’re back.

The white objects really stand out nicely on the craft paper. The flower at the top center reminds me of a shooting star headed to earth. Lovely colors and I like the random samples above the middle and bottom rows that appear side by side.

Hi Sheila, First let me introduce myself. I just joined the Draw Botanical team and will be helping out the critiques on the Art Feed. Vern will be sending an email with a more detailed introduction soon. Your page is very pleasing to look at! You have used color nicely to create a unified composition. I like the way the darker value of the kraft…[Read more]

Thanks, Laura. Jasmine does have a shooting star kind of way of hanging off its stem. And now it’s meteor shower time!

Hi Katy, welcome to the online uploads. Thanks for your suggestions. I’ve worked on this a big more and reposted.

That’s a good idea, Vern. I’ll try that. I actually got the pods lighter on a second attempt. I’ll post it. Thanks! -

Thanks, Vern. I’ll see if I can feel the smoother side. I only have one sheet left. Definitely buying some when I get back. Stay well! -

I think it looks great, it looks as if the graphite did work!

A mushroom caught in a windstorm. It’s a ‘McCarthy’!

I like this painting! It has a warm ‘antique’ look and feel to it reminiscent of feathers placed on the top of an antique walnut countertop. You have your own wonderful style, Eleanor.

Just another grocery store white mushroom (a kind of old one). I used graphite in conjunction with the colored pencils, to try to get a finer line. That didn’t go so well, and the colored pencils really smeared the graphite. Oh well. Another lesson learned. 🙂

These are in progress. this is a blue jay feather that I found yesterday, in the front yard, and emu and chicken feathers. The feathers are to-scale (1:1). The emu feather is particularly interesting, because it is bifurcated. A photo of the feathers is in the next photo, “Feathers – Part 2.”
